Pick a framework

Pick for the constraint you have. Steal modular concepts. Do not rewrite the company around a README.

When: The raw loop works and you still need checkpoints, types, MCP, or a harness.

  1. 01

    Name the missing primitive

Checkpoints, types, harness, documents, handoffs, code-act. If none, stay on the raw loop.

  2. 02

    Take the default

LangGraph/Mastra, Pydantic AI, Agents SDK, ADK, Agent Framework, smolagents+E2B, LlamaIndex, Deep Agents/DeerFlow, OpenHands/Cline/Codex.

  3. 03

    Keep ownership

You can still print the prompt, pause the run, and swap the model. If not, you bought a box.

    Own Your Prompts

Done when

  • One orchestrator, owned prompts, a named missing primitive the library actually supplies.

Refuse

  • Star-driven selection. Pick for the constraint: checkpoints, types, harness, documents. Read Canon's atlas.
  • Two orchestration frameworks. One loop. Libraries for missing primitives only.
  • Unowned prompt. Store prompts in git. Read what the framework sends. Eval on change.
